November 2007 Newsletter

The weather was good for the October 14th Shoot and everyone enjoyed a great lunch. Seven members shot in the match. Several just worked on their deer hunting loads and target practice. Top scorers were Scott Greene placing First, Bruce Gilbreath placing Second and Perry Chambeley placing Third. Prices were furnished by the club.

Upcoming Shoots

The 2007 Turkey Shoot was discussed at the October meeting with several good ideas suggested that we will incorporate into the shoot. We still need volunteers to work the shoot in two-hour shifts as we have approximately seven or more events. Working in shifts will give members the opportunity to shoot in the matches as well. We will sell hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks during the day as we have done in the past. All members are considered hosts of the shoot and should be aware of the safety of our shooters and visitors. Remember, this may be our only money-making event for our 2008 budget.

Campers will start arriving on Tuesday and by Thursday we should have quite a few. If you live close by, pick up a steak at Billy's Grocery Store to throw on the grill or campfire and join us by the campfire to "shoot" the bull.

We need to work out who will bring what covered dishes for the Saturday night BBQ as I think the visitors will probably bring enough desserts. Remember, it is BYOC....Bring Your Own Chairs.

Saturday, November 10th starting early AM is the scheduled workday. We need lots of help to get ready for the shoot. Bring your gun to practice after the work is done. Don't forget to bring your lunch too!

Loads of Info

Many thanks to Tommy Thompson. He spend two days after the October shoot weed eating and mowing the entire campground and range!

Please welcome new members Lucius and Suzanne Morton, Garrett and Kristen Ogletree, and Tobie and Mary Tomlinson.

We won't have a match in December, but you are welcome to get together for and afternoon shoot anytime just let me know.
