June 2008 Newsletter

The May Shoot was held on Sunday, May 18th. Tommy and John Oliver sponsored the shoot. John & Tommy put a lot of effort into preparing for the shoot. We had great targets and a great lunch. Twelve members and several visitors were in attendance. We had an enjoyable and informative meeting after lunch. Chuck Haskell, John Oliver and Ben Aderhold finished first, second, and third respectively. Other members in attendance were H.B., Emerson, Matt, Rusty, Tommy, Neal Pearce, Terry, Steve Wilkes, and Steve Whittington.

Upcoming Shoots

The June 2008 shoot will be held Sunday June 8th. Please note that this will be a range work day. Work will start at 9:00 AM. We plan to section off the are between the 25 and 50 yard lines and pick up lead. Using a "gofer" to pick up the lead without leaning over sure saves your back! You can get a gofer at Walmart for about $8 (one with rubber suction cup tips works the best)

The club will sponsor the shoot and will grill chicken for lunch. Lunch will be served around noon. The match will begin after lunch and the prizes will be steaks, pork chops, bacon, etc. The targets are still to be determined and there is no charge to shoot in the match.

Remember to pay your annual dues. Dues are payable the same month you paid last year.

We need a sponsor for the July shoot to be held July 13th.

The Friendship Shoot will be held June 14th - 22nd.

The 2008 Georgia State Muzzleloading Championship hosted by Blue Ridge Mountain Men will be held July 25 - 27.

The NMLRA National Territorial Matches for Georgia sponsored by Blue Ridge Mountain Men will be held August 29 - 31.
