Although we didn't have the turnout that we would have liked, we still had a successful Turkey Shoot. The weather was great and we had shooters up until 1:00 AM on Sunday. We also had several young shooters who won prizes! We had several campers who enjoyed the campsites and facilities now available. Thanks to Perry for hosting fish fry on Friday night. Thanks to everyone who contributed side dishes and desserts to go along with the BBQ Saturday night. Thanks to all members who helped with the money responsibilities of hosting the Turkey Shoot. With all the help, I was able to do what I love to do and socialize with everyone! And a special thanks to all the registered shooters for participating and helping raise funds for the club.
I have listed the 2008 Turkey Shoot in the Muzzle Blasts magazine and based on your vote, we will place a small ad in the appropriate issue to hopefully generate more interest in the shoot.
Upcoming Shoots
The prizes for the January 2008 Shoot will be sponsored by the club. The match will be held Sunday January 13th. We will have lunch as usual, weather permitting. The rifle targets will be Bruce's special animal target furnished by John Oliver. Paper at 50 yards and over the log (off the bench) at 70 yards. We will also be having a pistol match. The pistol match will consist of 10 shots at a paper bull at 15 yards. You may start the matches at 10:00 AM and lunch will be served at 12:00 Noon. We will hold a club meeting at 1:00 PM to discuss several issues. Please remember, it is time to pay your 2008 dues if you have not done so already.
Loads of Info
Condolences to Tommy Thompson and family. Tommy lost his son, Joey, unexpectedly the week after the Turkey Shoot. Joey was very unique in many ways and will be missed by all that knew him. Charlie Proctor and I attended the Memorial Service for Joey and visited with his family at Joey's home extending the Club's condolences to his family. We were touched by the outpouring of love and support from friends and family. Tommy, you remain in our thoughts and prayers during this holiday season.
Please welcome new members Tony Kennedy, Don Kennedy's son. Tony is the Truck Service Manager for the GM dealership in Valley, AL.
